Drum Count Reset:
When you install a new XC drum cartridge, it is equipped with a Reset
Mechanism* which is designed to trip a photosensor in the machine to reset the
drum count. This Reset Mechanism looks like a little gear with a flag sticking
off of it. It is located on the rear of the cartridge (shown off to the right
in the
illustration below). You must remove & re-position the ‘Flag’ gear at the “1
o’clock” position as shown.
NOTE: If the cartridge is missing
the Reset Mechanism, the cartridge
is most likely a ‘Starter Cartridge’
which came with the machine at
purchase time. If this is the case, you’ll
need to reset the drum count from
diagnostics as explained below.
Drum Count Reset (from Diagnostics)
First enter diagnostics: Turn power on and within 4 seconds press the following
sequence: ‘Clear’, ‘Exposure Mode’, ‘Clear’,’Exposure Mode’ (Exposure
Mode is the button on the far left)… The entire display including the numerics
will go totally blank. To reset the drum count to 0: (24-7).
Select 24, press ‘Start’, Select 7, press ‘Start’. Then turn power off & back on.
